18 Days Before I Hit The Road

Now that I have enjoyed my stay at Yosemite NP it’s time to move on up the road. The next stop is Lassen Volcanic NP where I will spend 6 days. Some of these stays may seem to be extensive but what I am doing is stretching time out so that I can reach some of the later parks when, hopefully, the spring flowers will be out. Besides with all of the driving between parks and in the parks I will need some down time.

The next stop will be Redwood NP for 10 days. If I remember right this is where some of The Return of The Jedi was filmed. I’ll see if I can drive my car through the forest real fast and not hit any trees. From there it is on to Crater Lake NP where the lake is extremely blue and also it is one of the deepest lakes in North America.

The next point of interest is actually multiple points. I will drive over Brookings, OR. It is a 340 mile drive to Astoria, OR and I am planning on taking 6 days to cover that distance. I will be stopping at places along Hwy 101 to take pictures and walk around the coast towns. I will just stop at whatever campgrounds that I find along the way.

When I leave Astoria I am heading to Mt Hood National Forest for 3 days then to Mount Rainier NP for 5 days. Then I will head to the longest stop of my trip, Olympic NP for 16 days. This is long because Olympic is made of 3 different ecosystems. There is the coastal system, a rain forest system and an alpine mountain system. I may have to find 3 different campgrounds to stay there but that is something that I have to research more.

Well this is the next section of my trip. Tomorrow I will get into the northern part of the trip that heads me back east. ff
