2 Days Until I Hit The Road
February 21, 2019
Well it’s almost time. I picked up my trailer yesterday and am spending today putting clothes and essentials into the trailer. Of course, today is one of the hottest days we have had in a while, so I had to turn the AC on in the trailer.
I keep thinking of everything that I want to do. I am reminded of one of the verses of the song America The Beautiful
O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!
First and foremost, I have taken many pictures of sunrises on the east coast and I want to connect them with sunsets on the west coast (From sea to shining sea). I have taken pictures of the Great Smokey Mountains (Purple mountain majesties) and will be taking pictures of the majestic Sierra mountains and some of the Rocky mountain. I guess that I will find out if they are purple too. I’m not sure about the Amber waves of grain but I will get pictures of America’s great plains. And hopefully of some of the wildlife within all this country.
My itinerary is still kind of open. I am still researching and finding other things that I would like to see. I have a book, National Geographic Guide to National Parks of the United States, and it tells me the minimum stay needed to see the parks. They also suggest the required days to stay at each park to explore the park properly. So far I exceed the days for each park. I also have thought about going into downtown Seattle to roam around there. I would like to see the fish market and get some pics of the fishmongers tossing the fish.
If I remember correctly, those words are inscribed on a monument at the top of Pikes Peak.
