Day 1 In San Antonio

Well today I arrived in San Antonio. It was a short drive from last night’s campground. I got in to KOA Alamo, registered and all hooked up and then went into San Antonio to go to the Alamo and the Riverwalk. The only other time that I have been to the Alamo was one day just before I graduated from basic training in the Air Force. I grew bigger since then, but the Alamo hasn’t. but I was told that over the next few years the city plans to move the businesses across the street from the Alamo out and restore the whole area back to what it was like just before the battle. It is still impressive to walk through it and see what it was like then.

Then I went over to the Riverwalk. I’ve always heard about how much fun people have strolling and eating on the Riverwalk. I wanted to see for myself. I kind of expected it to be like the Riverwalk in Jacksonville. Oh, how mistaken I was. It is a very exciting and fun place to be. Everyone is friendly and out to have a good time. Many, many restaurants and bars with music everywhere. The photo opportunities were great both during the day and even better in the evening. I got hungry so I stopped at a restaurant called The County Line. I liked it a lot. It was relatively lower priced compared to some of the other restaurants on the walk. Yes, most of the restaurants are pricey. The service at the county line was attentive, pleasant and friendly. Jacksonville should send some people to San Antonio to find out how a Riverwalk should be done.

I said that the people were friendly which is true except for one guy. I got verbally accosted by a guy dressed in all black, with a black mask over his face and wore sunglasses. He came up to me yelling to everyone around that I was a government spy taking pictures of the people around there. He said that I should be held responsible for what ever happens to the people that I took pictures of. I smiled and asked him to take his mask off and smile so that I could get a picture. He turned and walked away.

All in all, it was a good day.
