Elk Country RV Resort Review

Here is my review of Elk Country RV “Resort” in Trinidad, California. If you are looking a campground to get away from it all this is the place for you. There isn’t any cable or over the air TV reception here. They do have full-hookups with both 30 and 50 amp electrical. They have both back-ins and pull-throughs. There two cabins and several tent sites. There is a large herd of Roosevelt Elk that roam through the campsite and graze most of the days that I have been here. You must remember that they are wild so don’t approach them or try to feed them. It’s fun to watch them. There isn’t any swimming pool or a playground for kids. Speaking of kids, when the elk are around make sure that the kids aren’t approaching them. You get 100mb of free Wi-Fi and after that you must purchase more time at a rate on $3.99 per 100mb. To do laundry it is $3.75 for the washers and $.25 per 6 minutes for the dryer. Especially for you tent campers they charge for the showers. It is $.25 per minute with a minimum of 3 minutes and a maximum of 32 minutes. Because of the charge I broke down and used the shower in my trailer. There is no heat in the showers and restrooms. I don’t want to give them any ideas, but I am surprised that they don’t meter and charge for water used in the campers. There are people who really enjoy this campground. I talked to some people that come here every year. Personally, if I was in the area again, I would look at other campgrounds unless it was just a one-night stopover.  The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The setting of this campground is beautiful as it is nestled at the bottom of the mountains that are covered with trees. Just a mile away is a beach and some of the other campers said that they saw three whales playing just about a hundred yards off the beach.
