13 Days Until I Hit The Road

Another amazing photographer that I have found during my research is Mads Peter Iversen. He is an award winning and published photographer. He has a series of videos on YouTube called “Photographing USA” and just about every national park that I intend to visit is covered in one of his videos.

Each of the videos explains where to go in specific national parks and at what time of day to go there. By the time of day I mean early morning, late afternoon, middle of the night and in some cases even the middle of the day.

He describes the scene and how he shot it. Again, much like Steve Mattheis, he informs you of his methods. He tells you the f-stop, shutter speed, ISO and if he used stacking or composite to print the image. For those of you who are following me and are not photographers, pictures can lie. Stacking is a method of taking multiple pictures of the same subject and then blending them together so that everything in the image is in sharp focus from the front of the image to the back of the image. A composite is taking a part of one image and putting it together with a part of another image.

Mads Peter Iversen has given me knowledge of where to go in the parks so that I can not only get the images that have made me want to go to the national parks but also get images that very few other photographers have taken.
